It is said that ‘Where Rosemary flourishes, the woman rules’ the household. Our almost 7 foot tall Rosemary bush (which you can see in the photo of our garden in the middle) has had a presence in my mothers garden for over ten years now! Every time I’m near it can’t help but run my fingers on it to inhale the scent. I haven’t seen Rosemary smudge sticks with the all important blue flowers so I’ve waited for ours to bloom before cutting it especially as I work with Archangel Michael and his healing blue/violet ray of light.

Through the ages, Rosemary has played a rather large part in the rituals of our culture (drawing on my Celtic/Viking ancestry). In daily life it’s been infused, burned and distilled into essential oil. We make tea, hair/body rinses and burn it as a smudge/incense. In the European Middle Ages, Rosemary was used as a strewing herb and hung in doorways to protect hearth and home from all manner of evils, illness, critters, ghosts, ghouls, monsters and dark witches. Rosemary can serve in place of frankincense resin & be can be used as an alternative to white sage.

Rosemary’s ability to clear, move, and protect is well-documented in modern medicinal and holistic practices. It helps with memory as well as consecration and protection. Whether one is studying, taking exams or recalling memories including past lives or those of ancestors, Rosemary magic is the magic of Witnessing the Story and Protecting the Edges. With his sharp blade-like leaves, Rosemary cuts through the fog, helping us to see clearly what is there. Use this for clarity, preservation, strength, endurance, love, wisdom and remembrance.

Rosemary helps us make sense of the waves of emotion we’re seeing in our lives. It connects the heart with the tidal energies of our experience, helping us to find the deeper perspective we need from that place beyond words so we can gain strength and grounding in our own experience. As a protector, Rosemary strengthens our weak places and helps us clear the blockages. This is a herb of Mars that calls upon our inner fire. Helping us to move in the right direction and to create our own protections while still remaining soft and caring to ourselves and to those around us.

Along with Sweetgrass and a couple other herbs we’ve always boiled/steeped Rosemary to make a rinse for hair and body. I put this water in a spray bottle and use it as an all over the body toner as well as to moisten/hydrate my curls day to day. This protects and strengthens your aura from energetic attacks. I’ve noticed our Rosemary turns the water a slight reddish pink to brown colour due to all the oils it releases, I’ve not had this result with store bought rosemary. The loose Rosemary in small bags (3” x 3 3/4” or 8cm x 9cm) weighing 10grams (that’s a 4.5-5” smudge stick) that are available are great to make your own holistic recipes with or burn as loose incense.

The Rosemary stems are tied together with live by my healing hands with pure cotton thread. They are hung in the home or conservatory to dry for a minimum of 4 weeks. They are charging with specific crystals to provide healing when used and prayed over and blessed (private clients have noticed the difference). This is why they have been wrapped in a particular way with red cotton, an ancient method of cloaking powerful energies and retaining energy until it gets to you as we all know energies are easily exchanged even through walls let alone packaging and your parcel will pass through many hands before being delivered to you.
